It is an integral part of sun salutation & one of the basic poses with an option to start from Baby Cobra as a beginner, it is excellent for spinal flexibility & relieve back pain. It is a powerful muscle strengthening pose & its gentler modifications helps to build up to the full form while giving the benefits nonetheless.
There are important cues for this pose, but unknowingly we can engage the glutes more & then giving less chance for the lower back to strengthen. So relax the glutes & give more attention in gently enhancing the curve of the lower back.
